I think when most people talk about putting on their ECW gear to go outside, they mean some compilation of issued gear and their own gear.  Many people have a favorite hat that they brought from home for instance, or they brought their own thermals.  On the other hand, some people pretty much only wear issued gear and that means wearing their carhartts and or the brown thermal tops all day every day.

This is a picture I took at the very end of the summer of what was included in my outside ensemble.

Everything is issued except for the red fleece, the Lobenz (grey wool boots), the red wool socks, the black bird looking thing which is my mask, and the ear bags (light grey circular things).  If I took the picture just a couple of weeks later, you would see my carhartt overalls there instead of the fleece pants and wind pants.  Oh yeah, I also wear my bear claw mittens now instead of those black ones.  Anyway, you'll see ...

Nothing too exciting here.  I had on a normal pair of leggings and a sweater - everyday wear.  So my first addition (to the left) was the brown thermals, and then my red wool socks.

To the right I have added the grey wool socks and the ear bags.

OK, we have kind of a big jump here.  I put on my carhartts, and then my boots (the bunny boots in this case).  Next I put on my mask, my head band, and then my fleece jacket and fleece gloves.

I put on my goggles, my jacket, and my mittens over the fleece gloves.  Also in these pictures I have on my Lobenz instead of the bunny boots.

I never wear a hat, but simply pull my hood up snugly.  With all my hair kind of swirled up in there, my head has never been cold.

Here is a picture of me with my bear claw mittens on.  Pretty scary huh?

And here are my Lobenz.  I wear these all the time except for if I am going to be standing around outside.
